About Derek

Derek J. Flores RN is an experienced Hospice Nurse, living and working in Northern Colorado. Derek’s Nursing Practice has been formed by knowledge, friendship with his patients as well as personal loss and tragedy.

Derek Flores is a Native Coloradoan, who was born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado.  He is the proud Dad of three amazing daughters. Derek’s career after graduating from Colorado State University was in the business world for several years where he worked in management, marketing, as well as owning his own business.

​Derek later discovered his true vocation was to help those in need.  His pursuit of a nursing degree concluded by graduating from L.C.C.C. in Cheyenne,  Wyoming. His nursing practice has been with Hospice and Pediatric Patients for the past seven years.  Derek writes about his experience in Hospice not only from a nurse’s perspective, but also from personal loss and tragedy.  Derek and his daughters live on Colorado’s Front Range at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, where he enjoys snowboarding and mountain biking.
